Tuscan trails wine and olive tasting tour was wrapping up its first wine sampling in the Chianti- Rufino region at a stone castle where the Medici actually held residence. Ready for lunch the bus of travelers barreled down the hill to its next stop to a small Osteria in the heart of the Tuscan hills: La Casselina. In Ital food becomes the destination and the location becomes secondary. The location is almost woven into the fabric of the food.

As the van arrives to La Casselina one might think how could you top the last meal. How could you beat the pear and cheese focchi at 4 Leoni? Its about the experience, the Tuscan Hills and the company. Todd Bolton of Tuscan Trails really created a once in a lifetime experience.
As soon as travelers took their seats a sweet lady immediately brought out our first dish of stuffed fresh mozzarella cheese bread oozing over the plate that melted in your mouth and satisfied the traveler's hunger. The bread was followed by a antipasti platter of local savory and salty prosciutto, charred red peppers and creamy lardo.
Next the main course of two handmade raviolis: one with earthy truffle cream sauce and one with tart basil tomato sauce. Simple. Delicious. Savored for a lifetime.
